In response to the analytical research paper about organic foods, I found this topic very interesting. I find myself thinking in the same way as the author describes: truly believing that organic food is healthier and better for our environment. With all the talk about “going green” and saving the planet, I am sure many people fall victim to this claim of cuisine greatness. The author has a quote from one woman where she describes feeling better about herself just by walking into her local organic section at the grocery store and gazing at the organic products available. This sounds a bit ridiculous at first, but when you mix in all the information health teachers and commercials say, it makes sense. Eating organic is so publicized these days; many restaurants and even fast food locations offer organic goods on their menus. Whether it be organic apple slices or organic soy milk, society is eating this up.
The big sting comes when the author uses some statistics from Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition: there is no evidence saying that organic food is better for us. Now, not only does everything give us cancer, but fresh, not contaminated foods are not any better for us than what we have been eating. Health professionals, parents, and other healthful leaders (yoga instructors, personal trainers, etc) have been forcing this thought down our throats that these foods are healthier for us, but why? America is so obsessed with measurements, weights, diets, pounds, maybe they thought we were just crazy enough to believe it.

I completely agree with you. It seems that SO MANY people do fall victim to the false beliefs that organic foods are more healthy for you. Today, it's like everything, in some way or another, can be a potential cause of cancer! So, with that fear in teh back of everybody's mind, i think it makes people CRAZY about being perfect :)
